During Covid there were about 3 public gyms to choose from in Ubud, now there are dozens ranging from local and fun to state-of-the-art and serious.

I'll be adding a map so you can choose a suitable gym close to where you are staying, but you also might prefer a more niche facility.

For yoga and pilates, see post linked at the end.

Best local gym - Boom Lod Tonduh

Best fancy gym - Nova

Best equipment - Rendezvous

Best pool - Titi Batu

Best trainers - Bala Bali

Widest range of classes - Fitness Plus

Gymnasium Bali - A full service gym in north Ubud (in the former Parq complex) includes a fight club, yoga classes, and personal training. It is spacious and airconditioned, with loads of equipment and a cool vibe. The staff are friendly and there's a protein bar! Crowd tends to be eastern European

Ubud Fitness - Also called Crossfit Ubud, this place in Lod Tonduh is pricey. Drop in crossfit and pilates classes are 275k. The coaches are lovely but this place in intimidating. If you are into CrossFit and happy to pay western prices, this gym is for you. There is a physio and cafe on site, and a little pilates studio, and you can pay extra (!) to use the cold bath and sauna. A one month pass is 1.85m.

Ubud Fitness Centre - A more local gym in Peliatan, it has a standard complement of free weights, machines and cardio equipment. There is a little cafe on site. Drop in price is 100k, and a weekly pass is just 300k. It is a small airconditioned gym with friendly staff.

Nova - Nova Wellness club is a super fancy gym and recovery facility just south of the city centre. It has a nice gym, 22m pool, hammam, sauna and cold bats, and there is a little cafe with an amazing tea menu. The day pass is 300-350k depending on time. Membership is 2.9m per month.

Resya - Super cheap local gym (no AC) in Saginggan with loads of equipment. There is a little cafe for coffee and protein shakes. It's just 50k for a single entry; and there is even a plunge pool and sauna. Membership is around 350k per month; but this might be out of date.

Rendezvous Fitness - Large, friendly gym on Jl. Sri Wedari, Rendezvous has AC is most areas and has an impressive layout with loads of machines. They hold yoga, HIIT and other classes, and there is also a lovely view for the whole Bali experience. The sauna is amazing, and there is a pretty pool with a nice cafe. A single pass is 300k, with monthly membership of 2.1m. Price includes classes.

Mahima - A padel and tennis facility in Penestanen, Mahima also has an amazing gym. There is still some construction going on, with sauna, pool and cold plunge being built. There are classes in the studio above the gym. Drop in classes are 175k, and a 2-day pass to the gym is 325k. Monthly membership is R1.5 million.

Titi Batu - The large expat pool club in Mas has a compact gym, plunge pool, sauna and amazing pool. The restaurant is excellent (you can eat here with no entry fee) and you might like a game of squash or basketball. There are also classes which are not included in your pass. To enter and use the gym, its 310k, with classes at a steep 174k. Monthly membership is 1.45m with discounts for locals and kitas holders. PT classes start at 1m.

Raw Gym & Cafe - This is a chain in Bali and if you are travelling you could purchase a short membership and use any of their Bali gyms (Seminyak, Uluwatu or Canggu). The Ubud gym in Mas is super modern and has state-of-the-art equipment, plus classes. There is a gorgeous recovery area and a cafe with a beautiful view. The cafe, despite the name, thankfully does not have all raw food. An all area pass is 280k, and monthly membership 1.48m.

Massa's Fitness Centre - a bit of an icon in Ubud, Massa's in Peliatan has been around for ages. Its old school: basic, clean, and super cheap but has alot of machines and qualified trainers. 50k for a day pass

Ubud Muay Thai - as the name suggestions, this gym in Nyuh Kunung focusses on martial arts training. They offer group and individual classes at all levels for Muay Thai, boxing, strength and conditioning. You can also pay for a daily pass (100k or 1.8m for a month) to use their basic but pleasant facilities. I recommend the individual classes (from R500k) - the guys here are knowledgeable and its a real full-body workout.

Byson Gym - in South Ubud near the Westin, this is another very local gym (no AC). Very nice people, super cheap (50K) but a little busy after work (from 6pm).

Boom Gym - in Lod Tonduh, South Ubud, Boom is a modern gym, new, airconditioned gym which is one of the cheapest on the list. Just 50k for daily entry, and from 350k for a month, they also have clean showers, a sauna and a protein bar. The buff local guys who run this gym are fun too.

Fitness Plus - A 24 hour offshoot of Fitness Plus everywhere, this gym in south Ubud is super spacious and has great classes. Its very spacious and has excellent equipment. They push you to sign up but you can get a free trial. Check their website for details.

Ubud Gym - at just 20k per session, this is the cheapest on the list. Its right near town next to the Arjuna statue but in this case you get what you pay for. Ubud Gym is super basic and a little rough. Suitable for those on a budget but not much else.

Goa Gajah Gym - In eastern Ubud this is a pleasant local and cheap gym with a gorgeous outlook over the Petanu valley. Classes are in Bahasa Indonesia, but all the trainers and atendants speak English.

Restu Gym - in South east Ubud, Restu is an inexpensive local gym with a lovely garden. It is spacious and has a decent amount of equipment. No AC but this is pleasant and friendly - great for begineers.

Bala Bali Training - for the serious gym goer, Bala is in south west Bal (near Rusters). It focuses on martial arts training but their spacious facilities are great for a standard workout and cheap at 50K a session. They have a beautiful view too!

Monk Climbing Gym - For all levels of climbers, this facility in north Ubud in 120k per person to enter, with discounts for locals.
